The entry level mid-sized luxury car, Infiniti G is manufactured by Nissan, a parent company of Infiniti. The models released in first two generations are produced based on the platform of Primera from Nissan, while the later generation models are produced on the Nissan Skyline model. The present generation Infiniti G model shares most of the components with Infiniti FX and Infiniti M versions. The first G series model was introduced in the model year 1990 as 1991 vehicle.

The models produced during the period 1991 to 2002 are offered as entry level compact executive cars, while the models manufactured later are offered as mid-sized luxury cars.

First Generation (1991-2002)

The first generation Infiniti G model is called as G20, which is an entry level luxury car. It is offered in only single body style, sedan and it shares most of the basic design with Nissan Primera. The models released during this period are offered in two trims, HP10 and HP11. All the versions are offered in front wheel drive.

Power to the first generation Infiniti G comes from 2.0 liter I-4 engine that has the bore size of 86 mm and stroke of 86 mm. It can produce power up to 125 hp and torque of 136 lb ft. The available transmissions to the engine include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. Due to engines fuel economy, reliability, power handling capabilities and flexibility, the Infiniti G model has become prominent and popular. The fuel capacity of the engine is 60 liters.

With the powerful engine, the mid-sized luxury model can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a time span of just 10.9 seconds and it cover the quarter mile distance in 18.4 seconds. The top speed of the model is electronically limited to 124 miles per hour.

As far as the exterior dimensions of the model are concerned, it has the wheel base of 102.4 inches, length of 177.5 inches, width of 66.7 inches and height of 55.1 inches respectively. The curb weight of the model is around 2981 lbs.

Second Generation (2003-2006)

The second generation Infiniti G series model is offered as G35, which replaced the previous G20 version. In Japan, it is called as Nissan Skyline and it is offered in both coupe and sedan forms.
The G35 model shares its basic design with Infiniti FX, Nissan 350Z crossover SUVs. It is offered in either rear wheel drive or in all wheel drive. The available engine to the model is V6 that delivers power up to 261 hp and torque of 258 lb ft and it comes mated to either 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.

Third Generation (2006- Present)

The Infiniti G model is offered in sedan, coupe and convertible versions. The convertible models come powered by 3.7 liter V6 engine that produces 330 hp of power and torque of 269 lb ft. It has the choice to pair with either 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and the top speed of the model is 185 miles per hour.
